Getting Started With This Course

Orientation(s)

Orientation for this course is REQUIRED.
Failure to participate in a REQUIRED orientation, as specified below, may jeopardize your grade.

Online

Your instructor will hold the orientation online using self-paced tools, email and/or discussions. (A self-paced orientation does NOT mean the entire course is self-paced.) You should plan to access your online course no later than the first day of the session. Failure to do so may jeopardize your grade.

Other Orientation Information
Welcome To Your E-Learning Course Math 090 Instructor: Donnna Acquavella E-mail: acquavel@bucks.edu Office: Founders 123 Orientation for this course will be delivered through a PowerPoint. Please check Canvas a few days before classes start with directions for your Orientation. Once you are familiar with your responsibilities for this course, you will be asked to register in MyMathLab. MyMathLab is the platform that we will be using for this course; however, we will use Canvas for the orientation. You can purchase your text book and/or the MyMathLab access code from the bookstore before orientation and that way you will have the required code to register in MyMathLab. Do not purchase a "used textbook" from any website. You will need the MyMathLab code that comes with the purchase of a "new" textbook.

Accessing Your Course

Canvas (by Instructure)

Your course is using Canvas. If you are new to Canvas, please visit the Canvas Basics course space to become familiar with Canvas prior to the start of your course. No login is required to access this space.

You will be able to login to Canvas about two weeks prior to the start of your class. However, your course becomes available as of 1 AM on the official course start date.

Logging In

Log in to your Canvas course space at bucks.instructure.com

  • Username: Your username is the same for every system at Bucks.
  • Password: your Bucks Network password (used to log into any Bucks campus computer or to access any Bucks Library online database from off campus.)

If you do not know your Bucks Username, go to WebAdvisor. Select Account information (upper right hand corner of the screen) then select What's My User ID? and follow the prompts. You will need to provide your last name AND either your 7 digit student ID number OR your social security #. Your Bucks username will display on the screen.

Note: Students are uploaded to Canvas several times a day. If you registered late, you won't be able to access Canvas until the next upload takes place.

MyLab / Mastering

Your course is using MyLab / Mastering by Pearson, which requires the purchase of an access code. This code is usually packaged with a new textbook, but may also be purchased separately from the MyLab / Mastering website if it is not included with your book.

Information about MyLab / Mastering can be found at http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com. Please check the Systems Requirements page to verify your computer compatibility.

Your instructor will provide an additional course code you will need to access your specific course.

Purchasing Your Books and Other Course Materials

While you may purchase your books and other course materials from the provider of your choice (using the ISBN number available through the course's academic department where applicable to ensure the correct version), both the campus bookstore and our online bookstore, guarantee that they stock the correct version for your course.

Approximately 3 weeks prior to the start of the session you can use the link below to see the list of books that have been selected by your instructor. If you have any questions about the course materials listed, please contact your instructor or the academic department directly.

Click this link to see the book list for your course.

Other Information about the Course

Dear E-Learning Student, This course is set up a little differently than other E-Learning courses you may have taken. We will be using Canvas for our orientation and MyMahLab as the main point of entrance into our course. There is a required code that must be purchased for this web site. The code is included with the purchase of a new text book. Text books can be purchased at the Bucks County Community College bookstore. All homework will be completed using a program called MyMathLab. In order to register with MyMathLab you must have this registration code. All homework will be completed online in MyMathLab. All assignments will have a due date. If you fall further than two weeks behind in your assignments, I reserve the right to withdrawal you from the course. The Orientation will help clarify the many questions you may have. Please, if you have any questions prior to the orientation, feel free to contact me at acquavel@bucks.edu. (E-mail is the best way to contact me). I look forward to working with all of you. Donna Acquavella
