Accessing Your Course
Your course is using MyNutritionLab, which requires the purchase of an
access code. This code is usually packaged with a new textbook, but may also be purchased
separately from the MyNutritionLab website if it is not included with your book.
Information about MyNutritionLab can be found at http://www.mynutritionlab.com. Please check the systems Requirement page to verify your computer compatibility.
Your instructor will provide an additional course code you will need to
access your specific course.
Canvas (by Instructure)
Your course is using Canvas. If you are new to Canvas, please visit the
Canvas Basics course space
to become familiar with Canvas prior to the start of your course. No login is required to
access this space.
You will be able to login to Canvas about two weeks prior to the start of your class.
However, your course becomes available as of 1 AM on the official course
Log in to your Canvas course space at
- Username: Your username is the same for every system at Bucks.
- Password: your Bucks Network password (used to log into any Bucks campus computer or to access any Bucks Library online database from off campus.)
If you do not know your Bucks Username, go to WebAdvisor.
Select Account information (upper right hand corner of the screen) then select What's My User ID? and follow
the prompts. You will need to provide your last name AND either your 7 digit student ID number OR your
social security #. Your Bucks username will display on the screen.
Note: Students are uploaded to Canvas several times a day. If you registered late, you won't be
able to access Canvas until the next upload takes place.
Purchasing Your Books and Other Course Materials
While you may purchase your books and other course materials from the provider of your choice (using the
ISBN number available through the course's academic department
where applicable to ensure the correct version), both the campus bookstore
and our online bookstore,
guarantee that they stock the correct version for your course.

Other Information about the Course
Thank you for your interest in Nutrition - HLTH120. I hope that you will benefit immensely from the many experiences you will have to explore in the science of nutrition. Please note that this course is an eLearning course through Canvas. ALL aspects of the courses (assignments, examinations, and postings) are completed online through the Canvas course space. At least 2 - 3 week prior to the start of classes, a WELCOME EMAIL will be sent to all registered students BCCC email account providing additional information regarding the course.
This course will explore the nutrients in food and the body's handling of those nutrients, also with the role nutrition plays in health.
Orientation: There will be a mandatory online orientation session for all students to complete once classes start. To complete the online orientation, the student must enter the course space and click on the "Online Orientation - Start Here" icon. Students must successfully complete the online orientation (e.g., score a 100% (9) on the quiz) to gain full access into the HLTH120 - Nutrition course space. Students can retake the quiz multiple times.
This course uses a course management system called Canvas. It is recommended that students review the Canvas Basics course found at https://bucks.instructure.com/courses/36545 (no login required). Students are encouraged to contact the Technology Learning Center for assistance in understanding Canvas and eLearning courses. Additionally, it will aid in the technological aspects of the course. The Canvas Basics course contains information on how to navigate in Canvas and the tools you will use.

Additional information : The will provide you with the online access to the dietary analysis software that is required for assignment 1 and has additional resources and tools to assist with student learning.
Communication: The course is designed so that you, the student, can benefit from various methods of communication with the instructor and your fellow students. This means that you will be required to participate in various chat sessions, and utilize the numerous internet methods to communicate, send assignments, take tests and quizzes, and perform your own research. Remember, your success in this class will be directly linked to your utilization of the various tools available to you.
Course Requirements: Some things that will be required for your effective participation in this course are the following items:
- Access to a Computer with Internet Access
- Active participation in on-line discussions and chat sessions
