This certificate program is designed to provide students with basic accounting skills and knowledge with emphasis on the use of the computer. It will
prepare students who are currently employed and need to enhance their
skills, as well as those who are seeking employment in the bookkeeping area.
It will qualify students for a career as a full-charge bookkeeper in
a small office environment. It will also enable them to function as
a payroll clerk, an accounts payable or accounts receivable clerk, or
a billing clerk in a larger environment.
Graduates of this program are able to
- demonstrate competency in accounting skills using the
microcomputer;
- exhibit knowledge of accounting software applications
that are typically found in the office environment;
- prepare and modify spreadsheets under varied
conditions using standard program functions; and
- develop business communication skills.

planning to complete this certificate program must meet with their assigned academic advisor in
the Accounting Area to develop a planned sequence of courses to meet their individual needs.
