Bucks Live! Presents Hickory Brass Band Holiday Concert Fri. Dec. 14
Back by popular demand, the renowned band performs holiday classics at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14, with free hot cocoa before the show
Bucks County Community College, which has been bringing innovative musical performers to the region for more than 50 years, proudly presents the Hickory Brass Band Holiday Music Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 14, as part of the Bucks Live! series of cultural events.
Philadelphia’s premier brass orchestra, founded in 2001 by trumpeter Bob Wagner and trombonist Gail Glass-Wagner, will perform an extended lineup of holiday music that’s sure to put you in the spirit of the season. The concert features the music of Stan Kenton, with selections such as “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Feliz Navidad,” and many more.
Guest narrator Kevin Spencer will read holiday-themed selections by great wordsmiths including Lazarus, Wordsworth, and Longfellow. With poetry, jazz, pops, and brassy big band sounds, plus some special surprises, this unique holiday concert is sure to enchant and delight.
As a special treat, free hot cocoa and treats will be served in the Gateway Center Atrium just before the show.
The Hickory Brass Band Holiday Music Concert takes place in the Kevin and Sima Zlock Performing Arts Center, located inside the Gateway Center building on the campus at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa., 18940. Parking is free. The theater is equipped with audio-loop technology for the hearing impaired.
General admission tickets are only $12 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, and free for Bucks County Community College students with current ID. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $20, which includes a preconcert reception from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and reserved seating. The reception includes light hors d’oeuvres and two glasses of wine or beer; VIP ticketholders must be age 21 or older. Tickets can be purchased online at www.bucks.edu/tickets or at the door.
