Centurions Golf Team Finishes 6th in the Nation
Sophomore John Buliga of Langhorne led the day with a tournament-best 75, including the teams’ only eagle, to finish 13th in the nation
The Centurions golf team’s season came to a close Friday, June 8 with a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA Division III National Tournament, which took place in at Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, New York June 5-8. The final-round team score was 326.
Vincennes University captured their third national tournament team title with a final-round score of 307 and a four-day total of 1,237. Individually, Dan Lapp from Tompkins Cortland landed in first place with an overall tournament score of 293.
Bucks County Community College sophomore John Buliga of Langhorne led the day firing a tournament-best 75, including the team’s first and only eagle score of the tournament. The Neshaminy High School graduate had a four-day total of 313, which included 8 birdies and 43 pars. Buliga finished the season 13th in the nation, becoming an All-American for the second year in a row.
Freshman Brendan Strenge of Yardley shot an impressive 76 to land him 26th overall with a total tournament score of 321. Sophomore Kevin Hilton of Yardley finished in 36th with a final round score of 80 and a tournament total of 326. Freshman Aaron Crosson of Hatfield carded a 95 in the final round, landing him in a tie for 68th place overall and a total tournament score of 353. Freshman Ed Powers of Newtown rounded out the scoring for the Centurions, totaling 364 for the week and placing him in 77th overall with a final round score of 96.
Overall, the team scored a 1311 through four rounds, accumulated oneeagle, 23 birdies and 151 pars total. Their coach is Dr. Scott Bradshaw, who has led the Centurions to the national NJCAA tournament in 10 of his 16 seasons as coach.
Golf's season ended with three regular-season first-place finishes, Runner-up honors in Region XIX, and a sixth-place finish out of 12 in the NJCAA DIII National Tournament.
