Other Information about the Course |
All classes, including labs will be online. If you would like to meet f2f, Face Time, and/or Skype; I will be available for appointments as necessary. The first day of the semester is OUR first day of class! You will have components due the first week of class.
Remember online courses do require a large amount of discipline on your part. KEEP THIS TIME REQUIREMENT SERIOUSLY!!! Face-to-face biol 101 courses meet for 3 hours * 4 days a week (12 hours) in the classroom and requires approximately double that time outside of the classroom to study per week (24 hours), then the total amount of time a F2F student would require for Biol 101 in the summer sessions would be about 36 hours each week. You must be organized and disciplined in your scheduled times of study to succeed in this course! I will always be there to help you succeed in the class. Do not hesitate to email me at anytime for help related to the class.
The Final Exam, Exams, Quizzes, Labs, Homework Assignments, and Discussions will all be online components; all of which can be completed anywhere you would like. The Final Exam and ALL Exams will be PROCTORED and are to be taken AT ONE OF THE THREE BUCKS COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE TESTING CENTERS, requiring a security code that I will provide solely to the test proctor at the testing center!!! These are the only components that will need to be taken or completed at the testing center. If you are not local or will be traveling, alternative test-proctoring sites can be discussed. The Exams and Final Exam will be available to take over a couple of days for your convenience. This is a security feature of the course.
You are only required to purchase one textbook, the customized version for just Biol 101 or the complete version of Inquiry into Life (by Mader; 15th Ed.), and the Connect Plus access code. This is an eBook with Connect plus. You are not required to purchase a lab book, as all of our labs are virtual labs. You are absolutely REQUIRED to purchase the Connect Plus component though! All Homework Assignments and Assessments (i.e. Exams and Quizzes), other than the Virtual Labs and Discussions, will be in Connect only! The Labs and Discussions are in Canvas. |
