Other Information about the Course

Welcome to Introduction to Sociology! In this highly condensed Fall modular course we will be taking a exciting journey of discovery, exploring our world's societies and social structures, influences and organizations.

This is an online section so you will need to have reliable internet access and develop an organized time management system to complete the required work successfully. You will be working between 18-24 hours per week, reading text materials, participating in discussions, writing three papers and sharing a personal presentation with the class via a discussion board. We will have nine weeks together.

A full Course Format can be found in our Canvas course space for detailed guidance as well as an Orientation to guide your participation. I have set the course up in Chapter Modules and we will be completing two chapter topics in most weeks.

There are many flexible deadlines to assist you in getting everything done by the end of our semester. All Quizzes will be open from day one (Oct 16th) and will remain open until the last day of our semester (Dec 14th). This is to allow you to plan around personal challenges.

Active participation in our Discussions is essential to develop critical thinking and share perspectives with your classmates and instructor.

You will also be asked to create and share a personal presentation on one of the topics that we will be exploring. You can use Preze or Power Point, create a video or use whatever formate you feel works best for presenting your ideas and information. We will be using a discussion board for this collaborative project.

I am looking forward to working with each of you and know that you are going to enjoy this course experience!

I am in the course space with you daily and am available for support whenever you encounter a challenge via email or phone. I accept texts as well just as long as you identify yourself in your message..
