Other Information about the Course |
Lifespan Development is often termed "Cradle to Grave" Psychology because we explore all of the life stages. The textbook for this course is Katheen Berger's "Invitation to the Lifespan" & Worth is the publisher. This is a great course because we can all relate to living and being human! We discuss physical, cognitive, emotional and social aspects at various ages. We investigate topics such as fertility, labor, easy & difficult babies, language & intelligence, make believe friends, pretend play (remember when a sheet was a cape that helped you to fly?), school achievement and friendships (good & bad; BFFs - cyber-bullying), those awkward, yet often adventurous, teen years,(dating/friendships/stress/identity/sexuality), young adulthood - challenges and accomplishments (intimacy/career/family), middle age (a lot of myth-busting here) and elderly years (living to 100 is becoming quite common; best to think about creating a long-term quality life).
Success in this course consists of reading the text and posting on our shared discussion board. You must post 2 times weekly on the discussion board. You will be working through the text material and respond to chapters by answering discussion board questions, or posing questions or relaying examples.
Requirements: two papers and 4 multiple choice exams (exams are NOT cumulative). There is no need to come to campus as all requirements for this course are online, including ALL 4 EXAMS. |
