Students must have access to a digital video camera for this class. Use of a webcam for this class is not allowed.
Once speeches are videotaped, students will upload speeches onto the Canvas Course Space.
Students must have access to a professional presentation space to deliver and videotape their presentation. Unless there is a disability accommodation made, speeches are not allowed to be delivered from home!
For each speech, students must arrange an audience of at least eight (8) adults. The audience must be introduced prior to the speech and visible throughout the presentation. The audience must complete an evaluation sheet for the speech presentation.
Late assignments (Speeches, online assignments, discussion postings, etc.) are not accepted unless appropriate documentation is provided to substantiate the claim.
This semester, the class work for the course will be computer intensive and will require students to have access to the Internet. Using our Canvas "Virtual Classroom," you will be required to complete assignments, address weekly topics on the electronic discussion board and possibly participate in chats. Contact online learning for more information @ 215-968-8052.
Since these courses usually fill up, there will be no extra time for extra or make-up speeches. If you know that you have a conflict with any deadline, you should sign up for a different section.
REQUIRED TEXT: This course uses a free, online textbook from www.publicspeakingproject.org by Various Authors. You can access this textbook immediately and download it onto your computer or print it out (Approximately 270 pages)
Online Learning requires that you are a mature, innovative, self-starter who will be dedicated to completing course work on your own, with minimal guidance. I hope that we can work together for a successful semester. I will be available by email, telephone, and in-person meetings to facilitate your work process, but the major responsibility for completing work is yours.
Keep in mind, your enrollment in this class begins immediately!
If you have any questions or concerns, either before or after registering, please contact me via email at queeneys@bucks.edu
I look forward to working with you!
