Taking the GED at Bucks__________________________________________________________________

Everyone must make an appointment to take the GED at Bucks.  Both individuals taking the GED for the first time as well as those re-taking one or more of the GED Subject Tests must have an appointment to test.

The fee for the GED 5 Subject Test Battery is $65, (cash, check or MO made payable to BCCC). Report for Registration on the first day of scheduled testing. You may not be admitted if you arrive late for any scheduled start times.

NEW POLICY:  As of January 2010, the GED fee must be paid in cash or with a money order.  Checks will no longer be accepted.  Make money orders payable to BCCC.

Re-Taking a Section of the GED at Bucks

You must take all 5 GED Subject Tests before re-taking any one of them. If you are re-taking an individual GED Subject Test at Bucks, you must call 215-968-8466 at least one week before the test date you are planning to test. You do not need to register again. It is best to arrive for your test 30 minutes before your scheduled start time. The non-refundable fee is $13 for each test to be taken (check, cash, or MO made payable to BCCC). The State recommends waiting 90 days before re-taking the GED. If it has been less than 30 days, you will need permission to test from the Chief GED Examiner at Bucks County Community College.

Required Identification (ID) for ALL GED Sessions at Bucks

You must prove you are a Pennsylvania resident and bring your social security number. You must present one form of government issued ID with your photo (drivers license or non-drivers ID, which will also demonstrate Pennsylvanian residency). These are State requirements. You will not be admitted without the required identification. No exceptions!

If You are 16 or 17 Years of Age

You must not be enrolled in High School and you must bring:

  1. An official WITHDRAWAL LETTER from the High School
  2. AND a LETTER from any ONE of the following:
    • from the High School stating that your class has already graduated, indicating that date
    • from an employer stating employment or promotion is dependent upon earning the GED
    • from a recruiting official of the Armed Forces indicating you need to take the GED to enlist
    • from a Juvenile Court ordering you to take the GED
    • from a college or technical school verifying your enrollment

If you are 16 or 17, you will not be admitted to test if you do not have these two documents and the proper ID (see above). Individuals under 16 years of age are not permitted to take the GED.

Late Arrival

Session start times are strictly enforced. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time to register or test. The doors close for all sessions promptly at the scheduled start time. You may not be admitted if you arrive even a few minutes late.
