Admissions Checklist

Welcome to Bucks!

Here are the steps you need to take before your first class.

Click on each step to see more details and the links you need to complete the step.

Not sure whether Bucks is for you? Consider attending an information session.

The left column of this page also has helpful links.

1.  Apply to the College

Bucks is an open admission institution, but you must complete an application to obtain a student ID number and computer username as your first step. (SAT and ACT tests are not required.)

International students click here.

Summer/guest students see this checklist.

2.  Apply for Financial Aid (Optional)

You may be eligible for grants, scholarships, loans and work-study employment. To access these funds, you must apply for them. This is not required, but if you plan to apply for financial aid, the sooner you get started, the better!

The first step is to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

You must also provide the Office of Admissions with either a high school transcript or a high school equivalency diploma.

Read more about the financial aid application process and funding for which you may be eligible. Veterans may qualify for additional benefits.

Later you can find out which aid has been approved on your WebAdvisor Financial Aid Summary.

3.  Take Placement Tests

You are required to take placement tests before registering for courses and before signing up for the New Student Experience. Your writing, math and reading skills will be evaluated to help place you in appropriate courses. You might also need to take tests in chemistry or American English as a Second Language, depending on your situation.

You may be eligible for placement testing waivers based on previous course work. To request waivers, submit this form to Bucks and ask any other colleges you have attended to send your transcripts to Bucks.

Learn more about placement testing.

4.  Sign up for New Student Experience events

Part I: Advising & Registration: After completing placement tests, new students sign up for an Advising group session, where advisors will help you choose classes, grant approval for you to register, and offer hands-on help with the registration process. To sign up, you will need your Bucks username (see #1 above). Sign up here.

Part II: Orientation: New students sign up for a New Student Orientation event, where staff and student leaders from across the college will tell you everything you need to know to start your experience at Bucks successfully. Snacks are provided, and students who attend orientation also receive a free Bucks T-shirt and Student Planner, with key events, deadlines and other important dates.

Learn more about New Student Orientation. Sign up here.

Part III: The College Orientation Seminar (1 credit). You will hear more about this course during Advising & Registration. In this course you will acquire strategic skills to help you stay on track with your classes, master success strategies in decision making, goal setting, studying, time management and self-awareness, and connect with an advisor, campus services and other resources that will help you succeed at Bucks.

5.  Pay your bill

You must pay your balance due by its due date. NOTE: If you do not pay on time, your registration for classes may be voided, in which case you will have to register again. (Classes that were available when you first registered may be full.)

If you applied for financial aid (see #2 above), but your account hasn't been credited, you may utilize a  tuition payment plan,  for your balance due.

Bucks County Community College understands that sometimes you need some help managing your tuition bill. That’s why we offer the Bucks County Community College tuition payment plan administered by Sallie Mae®. Payment plans are convenient, manageable payment solutions that give you the option to pay tuition in interest-free monthly installments, rather than one lump sum. To enroll or learn more about the payment plan click here. If you have any questions about the plan, call Sallie Mae at 800-635-0120 and a specialist will be happy to assist you.

The college also offers a payment plan. See all payment options.
