Please note that all the contents of each portfolio should be relevant to the course work that is being challenged. Please note that not all portfolios will contain all of the items below.

  1. Resume Same for each portfolio that you may be submitting
  2. College transcript Same for each portfolio that you may be submitting
  3. Prior learning experience essay. Here you write, in a lay-person's words, a description of the way in which the content of the course which you are challenging is a part of your experience. Different for each portfolio that you may be submitting.
  4. Narrative (Translation of experience into competencies) Here, using academic language, or the language of the course syllabus, in the form of a table, you list the course requirements on the left and match them point by point (as possible) with your knowledge and experience on the right. It is important to refer the reader very specifically to the samples in section 5 (below) and the verifications in section 7 (below). Different for each portfolio that you may be submitting
  5. Samples of work These demonstrating your competencies.  They include, for example, job descriptions; work evaluations; documents, articles or papers you have written; notes that you have taken during classes/lectures; blueprints; diagrams; newspaper or journal articles about your work.   6. Relevant professional certificates / diplomas. Different for each portfolio that you may be submitting.
  7. Relevant, specific letters of verification May refer to more than one portfolio
  8. Cassette / Video / DVD / Photographs. Other evidence of work not covered by # 5 (only if applicable to specific course- syllabus ) Different for each portfolio that you may be submitting.
