Portfolio

Prior Learning Credit is marked CL or LE on the Bucks County Community College transcript. This credit is not automatically accepted by transfer schools, and anyone planning to transfer should look into this matter with the transfer schools(s) concerned, before starting the Prior Learning Assessment process.

  • A portfolio is a written presentation, consisting of a number of different sections, demonstrating and verifying in a precise fashion that the candidate has knowldge equivalent to that of a person who has sucessfully completed a BCCC college-level course.
  • A major part of this process involves cross referencing the syllabus of the course concerned.
  • The portfolio may be submitted in a three ring binder or electronically.
  • There is a $60.00 charge per portfolio.
  • Students interested in challenging a course by portfolio must first discuss the process with the Coordinator, Experiential Learning, and are required to meet with her a number of times to present and discuss a series of drafts and stages, before the portfolio is deemed ready for submittal.
  • The assessor will be an expert in the field, who teaches the course being challenged.
