Requesting Prior Learning Assessment

We are pleased that you are interested in taking advantage of our Prior Learning Assessment service and look forward to working with you and hearing about your experience. Please review the information below regarding Prior Learning Assessment, and then click on the link to the specific intake form below that most closely applies to your situation.

1. Bucks awards transfer credit only for courses from regionally accredited colleges. However, equivalent PLA credit may be awarded if specific courses from a non-regionally accredited school are ACE or PONSI approved.
2. Prior learning credit is not automatically accepted by transfer schools and if planning to transfer, students must research this matter with the transfer school(s) concerned.
3. Credit will be granted by Bucks only for courses that pertain to the student's program of study and/or are needed as a prerequisite for higher level course work.
4. A maximum of 30 credits may be earned through external credit (with the exception of certain technical high school graduates, and journeymen, who may earn up to 33.)
5. Before equivalent credit based on prior learning can be applied to a transcript, official documentation is required. Certificates should be sent from institution to institution by traditional mail.
6. There is a fee for certain methods of Prior Learning Assessment, payable in advance, and non refundable whether credit is awarded or not : Portfolio $60:00.CREX / CLEP/DANTES see current rate: http://www.bucks.edu/testing/
