Cooperative Education Program

Cooperative Education gives students academic credit for work experience in their major field of study. Co-op provides an exciting hands-on opportunity to apply classroom learning to the real world of work while earning a paycheck.

Co-op lets the student LEARN FROM EXPERIENCE.

Qualifications

  • Twenty-four (24) college credit hours must be completed
  • A GPA of 2.5 earned in courses offered by the Business Studies Department
  • Credit hours must include the following course prerequisites for each course:

Accounting ACCT280:

  • MGMT100 - Introduction to Business
  • ACCT106 - Managerial Accounting
  • CISC110 - Intro to Information Systems
  • ACCT130 - Accounting Applications for the Microcomputer

Management/Marketing/Retail MGMT280 or MKTG280

  • MGMT100 - Introduction to Business
                    OR
  • MGMT110 - Small Business Management
  • MKTG100 - Principles of Marketing
  • ACCT103 - Introduction to Accounting

  • Any three (3) credit of Business Electives

  • Work a minimum of 200 hours on-the job.
  • Obtain a satisfactory evaluation from the employer.
  • Meet the minimum course requirements.

MGMT280/MKTG280 and ACCT280

  1. Prepare an in depth typewritten project.
  2. Attend and participate in meeting and seminars arranged by the Co-op Coordinator

HRIM280

  1. Complete a work book/resume work-up.
  2. Attend and participate in meetings arranged by Co-op Coordinator.

OADM280

  1. Attend and participate in meetings arranged by Co-op Coordinator.
  2. Keep a daily journal of activities, experiences, observations, reactions, attendance dates and hours worked.
  3. Submit a typewritten summary and analysis of what has been accomplished as a result of the Co-op experience.

MEDA220 (Requires 120 hours in a medical setting).

  1. Keep a daily journal of activities, experiences, observations, reactions, attendance dates and hours worked.
  2. Submit a typewritten summary and analysis of what has been accomplished as a result of the externship experience.

MEDA220 (Requires 200 hours in a medical setting).

  1. Keep a daily journal of activities, experiences, observations, reactions, attendance dates and hours worked.
  2. Submit a typewritten summary and analysis of what has been accomplished as a result of the externship experience.
