- An advanced course that deals with the management of office systems, technology, and procedures. Topics include the improvement of productivity through technology and systems; optimization of personnel resources; systems selection, configuration, design, and implementation; and procedures development.

Course Learning Goals
The general goal is to prepare students to grasp the meaning in full if what the components of a well designed integrated electronic office should contain. In particular, students should not only be able to describe the impact associated with managing office automation and systems, but should be able to identify office automation technologies used in administrative functions in the office. -

- identify obstacles blocking the implementation of integrated office systems and solutions to overcome obstacles
- explain a model of an integrated office system
- describe career tracks and career changes for technical personnel
- discuss the common components of computer systems, and the role that each plays in information systems
- explain differences among computer system configurations
- explain the difference between computer installations for the management of information systems environment and computer installations for the office automation environment
- describe the significance of the business document to business information systems and the technologies involved in document production
- discuss the concepts and technologies associated with micrographics, reprographics, and desktop publishing systems
- discuss the concept of telecommunications and the technology and problems related to local area networks and wide-area networks
- explain electronic work stations and how they satisfy administrative support needs
- identify problems related to the interface between office workers and work stations
- pinpoint the relationship that exists between effective organizational strategic planning and strategic planning for office automation
