  6. Catalog Course Description

    This course introduces students to the operation and current practices associated with view cameras. Students learn about lens selection, the use of camera swings and tilts, and processing procedures for sheet film. Students produce images in both the traditional darkroom and the digital lab.

  7. Required Course Content and Direction

    1. Learning Goals:

      1. Course
        2. Students will:
        1. operate large format cameras;
        2. apply the principles of Zone System;
        3. apply split-filtering exposure techniques utilizing multi-grade, fiber based paper;
        4. develop an understanding of archival processing and print toning;
        5. prepare and scan negatives for digital output; and
        6. demonstrate the ability to produce images in both the traditional darkroom and the digital lab.

      10. scanning and digital printing of negatives

      1. Course
        2. Student assessment is based on the successful completion of assigned projects, the presentation of projects, and critiques. The course culminates in the production of a final project/portfolio of high-quality printed images accompanied by a statement that addresses the concept and technical achievements of the work using appropriate vocabulary.
