  6. Catalog Course Description

    Being proactive in response to alcohol and drug abuse is the focus of this course. Students will learn to define intervention, identify key steps, and become aware of the legal and ethical issues relevant to interventions.

  7. Required Course Content and Direction

    1. Learning Goals:

      1. to understand how enabling hampers the intervention process.
      2. to help students recognize enabling in the community, school, and workplace.
      3. to develop skills and strategies appropriate to work in different settings.
      4. to become aware of the ethical and legal issues relevant to interventions.

      1. to define interventions and understand the philosophy that contributes to the definition.
      2. to understand intervention as a process.
      3. to differentiate between formal and informal interventions.
      4. to identify the key steps in the process of interventions.

  8. Teaching Methods Employed

    Evaluation will be based on class participation, completion of required reading, daily reaction paper, objective test, and participation in planned intervention.
