Catalog Course Description
Ear Training III applies sight-singing and dictation to chromatic tonal relationships (including modal mixture and secondary dominants). A continuation of Ear Training II and intended for music majors, MUSC215, must be taken in conjunction with MUSC211 Music Theory III. -

Planned Sequence of Topics and/or Learning Activities:
- Practice applications of movable-do solfege with respect to diatonic melodies and harmonies as a brief, intensive review.
- Define and apply principles of movable-do chromatic solfege with respect to inflected scale degrees, scalar variants in minor keys, modal mixture; perform related notation and aural identification tasks.
- Practice modulation via secondary dominants to closely-related keys, using movable-do chromatic solfege; related notation and aural identification tasks.
- Practice sight-singing and dictation in quintuple meters; related notation and aural identification tasks.
