  6. Catalog Course Description

    This course is the study of pathological conditions and the drugs used in their treatment. Students study the description of conditions and diseases of the organ systems including etiology, signs and symptoms, and methods of diagnosis and treatment. Students identify disease entities and describe appropriate diagnostic and treatment modalities.
  7. Required Course Content and Direction

    1. Learning Goals:

      1. Course
      2. Students will:
        1. identify commonly used drug names including their chemical, generic, and trade names;
        2. identify the diseases a generic or proprietary prescribed drug is used to treat;
        3. identify and classify categories of chemical, generic, and trade name drugs;
        4. identify abbreviations and symbols relating to drugs;
        5. demonstrate an understanding of the most common disease processes for each body system;
        6. demonstrate an understanding of how epidemiology helps to track disease and plan for the future; and
        7. identify how the beginning of the disease process, signs and symptoms and diagnostic techniques help to improve cures.
