  6. Catalog Course Description

    This course will explore the history of Bucks County and neighboring areas, with special reference to settlement patterns of various ethnic groups and their influence on the landscape, building traditions, and material culture.

  7. Required Course Content and Direction

    1. Learning Goals:

      1. To understand the various ethnic backgrounds of groups who settled in the Delaware Valley (17th - 19th centuries) and the roles that they played in the history and culture of the region
      2. To gain familiarity with the primary and secondary source materials for research in the history of this area
      3. To complete a project that utilizes research materials about a particular site
      4. To develop skill in reading handwriting from various time periods
      5. To understand relationships among documents, artifacts, material culture, architecture and the landscape
