- This course provides an overview of formal regulations and acceptable standards impacting childcare programs. Students will compare and contrast local, state, and federal regulations, and the agencies that set and enforce those regulations. The student will be introduced to procedures necessary to maintain program compliance.

Students will be able to:
- define a daycare center, group child daycare homes and family daycare homes;
- describe and compare local, state and federal regulations;
- identify agencies that enforce regulations for daycare centers;
- describe Department of Public Welfare regulations for a daycare center, group child daycare homes, and family daycare homes;
- describe Pennsylvania Department of Education regulations for nursery schools and private kindergartens;
- describe procedures that insure program compliance;
- describe ethical considerations involved in opening a daycare center;
- describe successful parent and staff conferences; and
- establish files and maintain records.
