Catalog Course Description
This course explores child development in the cognitive, language, physical, emotional, and social domains within a theoretical and research framework for children ages 6-9. Students examine the influences of cultural diversity, family, and education on early learning and development. The course includes five hours of observation. -
Required Course Content and Direction

Learning Goals:
- Course Students will
- describe the sequence of typical development for children ages six through nine;
- identify factors that influence the development of children;
- describe the theories of cognitive, language, physical, emotional and social development;
- differentiate between typical and atypical development and discuss educational adaptations made to insure the success of all learners; and
- evaluate teaching techniques that advance development.
