    Students spend between six and nine hours per week outside of class in activities such as learning vocabulary, reading, completing written exercises, working on pronunciation, preparing oral presentations, and working with multimedia resources that accompany the text.

  6. Catalog Course Description

    This interactive course builds on the instruction from ARBC110. Students continue to acquire basic knowledge in the reading, pronunciation, writing, and understanding of basic Arabic words and phrases. Cultural background is included.

        2. recognize and respond appropriately to the most common spoken situations;
        3. demonstrate basic mastery of written Arabic; and
        4. explain some common aspects of life in the Arabic-speaking countries.

      Cultural contexts: Students articulate similarities to and differences from cultural practices and institutions familiar to them through their study of
      1. geography of the Middle East – part 2
      2. Middle Eastern food
      3. modern music in the Middle East
      4. sports and hobbies in the Middle East
      5. schools in the Middle East
