Pharmacy Technician (60 hour)
This 60-hour certificate prepares the student to enter the pharmacy field in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, and community pharmacies as an ancillary, and work under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist with this comprehensive course. Included topics are medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. You will learn dosage calculations, IV flow rates, and drug compounding and dose conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, billing, and reimbursement will also be discussed. After successful completion of this course, the student will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) for national certification.
Pharmacy Technician Comprehensive (90 hour)
This 90-hour certificate prepares the student to enter the pharmacy field in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, and community pharmacies as an ancillary, and work under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist with this comprehensive course. Included topics are medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. You will learn dosage calculations, IV flow rates, and drug compounding and dose conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, billing, and reimbursement will also be discussed. This course also includes additional math, a review of math skills, the top 20 drugs and a practice test to prepare students for the National Examination. After successful completion of this course, the students will be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) for National Certification.
