Continuing Education Scholarships

BEAN, The Christine Jordan Memorial Scholarship
(Tuition and fees for two academic years at in-county rate)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

The scholarship is intended to aid current or future BCCC students who are in recovery from drug addiction. Consideration will be given to those who meet the following requirements:

  • Successful completion of a drug rehabilitation program.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits in a program in one of the College’s six academic departments, or in a non-credit certificate program.
  • Must intend to graduate with an associate’s degree or certification.
  • Must indicate the amount of credits needed to graduate with an associate’s degree or certification.
  • Must submit an essay that describes the goals they wish to achieve as well as how they plan to help others in need.
  • There is no minimum grade point average requirement.
  • Committed to abstain from drugs and alcohol for their lifetime.
  • At all times, candidates/recipient must be in good academic standing and in conformance with the College’s Code of Conduct; both will be verified by the Foundation.

Billy Greenwood Memorial Scholarship Endowment for IT Academy Students (up to $1,000)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

Awarded to a student currently enrolled in an industry certified certificate program in BCCC's Information Technology (IT) Academy. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a BCCC faculty member, and answer the required essay questions.

Bucks County Community College Foundation Director's Endowment Fund ($500 - $1,000)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

The scholarship is open to students enrolled in the following credit or non-credit programs who meet the specific eligibility criteria at the time of application:

  • Enrolled in the College’s Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Completed a minimum of 900 clocked hours, and possess an 80 grade average (equivalent to a B) or better.
  • Enrolled in the College’s Radiography Program, and possess a 2.0 grade average or better.
  • Enrolled in the College’s Nurse Aide Training Program.
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits in a program in one of the College’s six academic departments. Possess a 2.0 cumulative GPA or better. To receive the scholarship, the recipient(s) must reenroll at BCCC in a minimum of six (6) credits the following fall semester after the award is made.

At all times, candidates/recipient(s) must be in good academic standing and in conformance with the College’s Code of Conduct; both will be verified by the Foundation Office. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from either a BCCC faculty member, a BCCC staff member, or a current employer, as well as a typed one-page essay describing his or her decision to attend BCCC, future educational and/or vocational plans, as well as a listing of past and/or present extra-curricular activities.

Gibb Foundation GED Scholarship ($500)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

The scholarship is awarded to the student who, among all applicants, earned the highest score in the completion of his or her GED certifications. Recipient must reenroll at BCCC in the fall semester after the award is made in the spring.

Orlove Family Memorial Nursing Scholarship (minimum $500) 

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

The scholarship is open to all students who meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Enrolled in the College’s Practical Nursing Program, and completed a minimum of 900 clocked hours. There is no grade point average requirement.
  • Answer the required essay questions.
  • Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by BCCC’s Financial Aid office.

Pickering Manor Licensed Practical Nursing Scholarship ($1,000)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

The scholarship is open to all students who meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Graduating from a Bucks County Public High School. Preference is given to students graduating from the Council Rock School District.
  • Intend to enroll in BCCC’s Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
  • Must submit their latest high school transcript and register and pass the NLN (The National League for Nursing) test (minimum score is 75%), administered by BCCC, to be admitted to the program.  
  • The application must be accompanied by a written recommendation as well as a brief essay describing how this scholarship will help meet his/her educational and career goals.

Shirley Weese Memorial Scholarship ($1,000)

(Annual Application Deadline: April 1)

Established in memory of Shirley Weese by her husband Richard H. Weese, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating student enrolled in the College's Licensed Practical Nursing program. Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be scheduled to graduate the program. This scholarship is also financially supported by the Makefield Area branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The AAUW was founded in 1881 on the conviction that education is key to achieving equity for women.
