Biography

Mr. Ritchie is a seventeen-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department. As a Police Officer, he has had various assignments including being assigned to the Highway Patrol Unit, where he had the honor of escorting the President of the United States in a motorcade on several occasions. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant and is assigned to the 17th District in South Philadelphia. Mr. Ritchie has been trained by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Counter Terrorism Bureau Major Incident Response Team (MIRT) and has been the recipient of numerous departmental commendations, including one for bravery. Mr. Ritchie is also the recipient of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Senate Award. Mr. Ritchie earned an Associate of Liberal Arts degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Administration. In May of 2009, Mr. Ritchie earned a Master of Administrative Science degree from Fairleigh-Dickinson University. Mr. Ritchie has also earned three post-graduate certificates from Fairleigh-Dickinson University: Global Security and Terrorism Studies, Emergency Management Administration, and School Security & Safety Administration. Currently, Mr. Ritchie is pursuing a second Master of Science in Homeland Security at Fairleigh-Dickinson University and is scheduled to graduate in May 2013. Mr. Ritchie is a graduate of class #297 of the School of Police Staff & Command at Northwestern University, where he served as class Vice-President. Upon graduation from Northwestern University, Mr. Ritchie was awarded the prestigious Franklin Kreml Award. Mr. Ritchie is also a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership Program at Penn State University.
